Introduction

Communo ("we," "us," or "our") is based in Charlotte, North Carolina and operates the Communo platform, including community-specific resident portals (the "Service"), which allows residents to connect, message, discover local events, and access a neighborhood directory. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information you give us

  • Account details (name, email address, password)
  • Profile and directory information you choose to add (e.g. photo, unit/address, contact info)
  • Messages sent to other residents through the Service
  • Event RSVPs, posts, and other content you submit or share on the feed
  • Any information you send us directly, such as through a contact form

  • Usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see below)

We do not collect payment information, since the Service does not process payments.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • To communicate with you, including support and important updates
  • To improve and troubleshoot the Service
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues
  • To comply with legal obligations

Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and remember preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may limit functionality.

No Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or payment processors. Your information stays with Communo, except where disclosure is required by law (for example, in response to a valid legal request from law enforcement).

Business Transfers

If Communo is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. This is separate from selling data for profit, which we do not do. If such a transfer happens, we'll notify you and outline any choices you may have regarding your information.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion at any time (see "Your Rights & Choices" below).

Data Security

We use reasonable measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights & Choices

You may access, correct, or delete your personal information, or ask us questions about how it's handled, by messaging the Communo team directly through the Service. North Carolina residents, and residents of other states with applicable privacy laws, may have additional rights — reach out through the app and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, message the Communo team through the app and we'll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes by posting the new policy here and updating the "Last updated" date above.
